EDAH-Museum
Op zaterdag 6 januari gingen we naar het EDAH-museum en orgelmuseum. Ze zijn ondergebracht in een voormalige overslagloods van Van Gend & Loos. Bij binnenkomst was de orgelmuziek al nadrukkelijk te horen!
We begonnen ons bezoek met een kop koffie en een heerlijke vlaai, maar al snel kwam een ‘strenge’ ex-schooljuffrouw ons vertellen dat de rondleiding moest starten… We kregen nauwelijks nog tijd om de koffie- en vlaairesten naar binnen te proppen!
De juf bleek uitstekend in staat alle EDAH-historie en de ontwikkeling van kruidenierswinkels naar supermarkten te kunnen vertellen. Ondanks haar kleine formaat wist ze iedereen stil te krijgen en vertelde ze alles naar hartelust.
Zooo leuk om al die oude merken en werktuigen te zien en hoe het vroeger in zijn werk ging! Ook werden we 2x getrakteerd op een toastje met speciaal voor EDAH gemaakte plakkerige aardbeienjam, heerlijk! Na een uitgebreide rondleiding was er nog nauwelijks tijd voor de o-zo-belangrijke evaluatie onder het genot van thee, koffie en ook advocaat!
Aansluitend zijn we gaan eten bij de Barrier en hebben we naast een gezamenlijke toast op “officiële Alice” ook de lokale carnavalsvereniging nog zien binnenkomen…
Nadat we onze mondhoeken hadden afgelikt en bij-gestift hebben we ons in het nieuwjaarsreceptie-gedruis gestort in Genderdal, waar het weer gezellig druk was en veel moest worden bijgepraat en -gelachen.
EDAH-Museum
On Saturday January 6th we went to the EDAH museum and organ museum, which are housed in a former Van Gend & Loos warehouse. The organ music could already be clearly heard upon entering!
We started our visit with a cup of coffee and some delicious pie, but soon a ‘strict’ ex-schoolmistress came to tell us that the tour had to start… we barely had time to finish the coffee and pie!
The mistress turned out to be perfectly able to tell all the EDAH history and the development from grocery stores to supermarkets, despite her small size she managed to silence everyone and told everything to her heart’s content.
Sooo nice to see all those old brands and tools and how they used to work! We were also treated twice to a piece of toast with sticky strawberry jam specially made for EDAH, delicious! After an extensive tour, there was hardly time for the all-important evaluation while enjoying tea, coffee and also eggnog!
Afterwards we had dinner at the Barrier and, in addition to a joint toast to “official Alice”, we also saw the local carnival association enter…
After we had licked the corners of our mouths and touched up, we threw ourselves into the New Year’s reception hustle and bustle in Genderdal, where it was pleasantly busy again and there was a lot of catching up to do and lots of laughter.
