Voor het eerst bij Las Salinas

In mei was onze T&T-avond voor het eerst niet in Gemeenschapshuis Genderdal, maar bij Las Salinas in Veldhoven. Het was een drukke avond. Er waren al 16 mensen om te eten en in de loop van de avond sloten er ook nog eens 16 anderen aan.

Alles kwam bij elkaar die avond. Het was meteen enorm druk in de prachtige buitentuin, niet alleen met onze bezoekers, maar ook met een heleboel gewone klanten van het restaurant.

Het was schitterend weer en van te voren was gepland dat er naar het Eurovisie Songfestival gekeken kon worden. Nou was de belangstelling voor dit festival opeens enorm afgenomen, je weet wel waarom, maar dat mocht de pret niet drukken. Bovendien was het ook nog eens de verjaardag van de eigenaar Roland!

We wisten niet hoe deze eerste avond zou uitpakken. Onze grote vrees was, dat mensen de eerste keer misschien niet naar een openbare gelegenheid zouden durven komen, maar dat viel enorm mee. Er waren maar liefst drie bezoekers die deze maand voor het eerst kwamen. Ook ter plaatse omkleden was mogelijk.

Het was logistiek wel ingewikkeld dat we nog uitgebreid zaten te dineren, terwijl de eerste avondgasten al binnenkwamen. Het is niet echt leuk als je binnenkomt en je moet aanschuiven bij een gezelschap dat zit te eten. Daar hebben we dus iets geleerd voor volgende keren.

Zo’n grote opkomst hadden we niet verwacht en Las Salinas ook niet… De medewerkers van het restaurant zullen aan het eind van de avond wel doodmoe zijn geweest. In elk geval was het tot in de kleine uurtjes gezellig!.

First time at Las Salinas

In May, for the first time, our T&T-evening was not in the Genderdal Community Center, but at Las Salinas in Veldhoven. It was a busy evening. There were already 16 people for dinner and during the evening another 16 people joined us.

Everything came together that evening. It was immediately very busy in the beautiful outdoor garden, not only with our visitors, but also with a lot of regular customers of the restaurant.

The weather was beautiful and it had been planned in advance that we could watch the Eurovision Song Contest. Well, the interest in this festival had suddenly decreased enormously, you know why, but that did not spoil the fun. Moreover, it was also the birthday of the owner Roland!

We did not know how this first evening would turn out. Our great fear was that people who join for the first time might not dare to come to a public place, but that was not the case at all. There were no fewer than three visitors who came for the first time this month. Changing clothes on the spot was also possible.

It was logistically complicated that we were still having an extensive dinner, while the first evening guests were already arriving. It’s not really fun when you come in and you have to join a group of people who are dining. So we learned something for next time.

We didn’t expect such a big turnout and neither did Las Salinas… The restaurant staff must have been dead tired at the end of the evening. In any case, it was fun until the early hours!
